Potty Training SUCKS!!!
Little Bit has done pretty well, and for all intents and purposes, I consider her potty trained. But, she's having more accidents than I ever thought she would. She's gotten really good about recognizing that she needs to go while she's playing, whether here or at someone's house. And she's done great at church, too. But when she's eating dinner and it's taking forever (that's a whole other post), she's having accidents. Or when she's throwing a fit, she has an accident. And then today at the grocery store she told me she had to go, so we quickly found the restroom and she went. But when we got home and I was bringing in the groceries, she told me that she pottied in the car. UGH! And sure enough, she was soaked.
I know this is a process, and she'll eventually not have anymore accidents, but it seems like she was doing great for the first couple of weeks and now she's completely regressed. The only time we've fussed at her for an accident is when she's done it during meal times. She's told us she needed to potty before during dinner, but it's when she doesn't want to eat that she has her accidents. And for that, we think it's intentional. All the other time we have just encouraged her to pay attention to her body and tell us. And we're still giving her lots of reminders to tell us when she needs to go.
We're also working on her becoming more self sufficient in the restrooms. The preschool we want to enroll her in requires that they are self sufficient. That seems crazy to me, but we're working on it b/c the school is a really good school. Here's the kicker...in order to help Little Bit get in, it's better for us to enroll Chipmunk in the 2 1/2 yo class, and THEY have to be potty trained AND self sufficient. Isn't that CRAZY?!?!?!? So, we'll be starting her potty training soon. Dear Lord, help us!! lol

Sending you lots of thoughts and prayers going through this: Hopefully they both pick it up, and stick with it, quickly.
ReplyDeleteShe'll get it when she's ready. Aliya started "training" when she was really young and several people told me not to push it because starting too young could cause regression...sure enough, it lasted for just a bit before we were back in diapers. (not saying that this will happen to you). A few months later she wanted to go all on her own and we've never looked back. Maybe she just needs a little more time?? Good luck!
