A few weeks ago both girls were sick. Little Bit had a low grade fever (that we never figured out where it came from, but it came and went in just a few days) and Chipmunk had an ear infection. She finished her antibiotic on the 23rd, so Thursday before we left to visit Jon's family in MS I tookd Little Bit back for her ear recheck, and we got an all-clear. Friday, her nose started running, Saturday morning she had a dry cough, and by the time she woke up from her nap Saturday afternoon she was wheezing. We flew home yesterday, so we headed to the doctor today. You guessed it! Chipmunk has a double ear infection and she started her on breathing treatments every 4-6 hours until the wheezing stops. We go back on Friday for a recheck for the wheezing and then next week for a recheck for her ears. I asked again about tubes, and the doctor gave us a referral to an ENT. That appt is on the 17th. I'm just so ready for Chipmunk to feel better. I think she's been sick more than she's been well since we moved. Hopefully we can get her surgery scheduled before she gets another ear infection!
And to top it off...when we got back into town yesterday, the upstairs A/C unit (for all the bedrooms) had decided to stop cooling, so not only do we have a wheezing and coughing baby, but we were sleeping in unairconditioned bedrooms. Fortunately, it wasn't very hot last night, so it wasn't bad with ceiling fans and box fans, but today, the thermostat is registering 80 degrees up there, so there isn't much napping going on. The A/C guy is coming tomorrow from 11-1, so hopefully we will only have one more night of no A/C upstairs.

Poor you guys! Being sick is hard enough, being sick and uncomfortable is even worse! Hopefully things get better real soon!
ReplyDeleteTubes worked like a charm for Evan. He had back-to-back ear infections for about eight months. By the time they got the tubes in, his ears drained for about a month before they "dried up". Fair warning, Evan did get one or two ear infections withing the first couple of months of having the tubes put in. But has been ear infection free since then (over three years).
